MARY, DARING MOTHER

God ventured all in love, to woo the world;
but who would dare to mother heaven's child?
Courageous Mary ventured all for God: Alleluia!
“So let it be, according to your word”;
then heaven was bound to earth through her consent
and all God’s hopes set on one human cell: Alleluia!
From moulding Jesus through his growing years
to standing by his cross in mother’s tears,
for love, in hope, by faith she persevered: Alleluia!
Pierced by the sword of faithfulness to God
and faithful to her enigmatic son
she pondered deeply how God's plan might run: Alleluia!
And now, O God, you set your hopes on us
to bear Christ’s love afresh into your world;
grant us the grace to venture all for you: Alleluia!
