JENNIFER LEWIS RETURNS TO HER SECOND HOME

Jennifer Lewis from the USA is our Residential Scholar for June and July. She previously lived and served in the Anglican Church in Taupo for three years. "It was there that I was introduced to a tradition and people that left a permanent mark on my soul," she says. "I was baptized and confirmed in the Anglican Church of Aotearoa New Zealand by full immersion in Lake Taupo, no less!"

We welcome Jennifer warmly and hope that her time here will be much blessed. https://vaughanpark.nz/scholarship2/residentialscholarships/jennifer-lewis

BEN JOHNSON-FROW MAKES BEAUTIFUL MUSIC

The Ruatara Chapel was filled with song, music, light and good company when Scholar, the Rev. Ben Johnson-Frow recently shared his songwriting gifts at a joyous and inspirational evening of worship, storytelling, and music, attracting a large and appreciative crowd. We posted pictures of the evening on our Facebook page.

During his stay at Vaughan Park, he wrote The Ghost and performed the song that evening. “It was,” he says, “inspired by loved ones who have talked about some of their mental health struggles and in doing so have helped me to reflect on aspects of my own life. The ending was inspired by my daughter Breanna who gave me a verse - 2 Corinthians 12:9 - which is now stuck up on our fridge at home as a constant reminder.” You can listen and watch his video @ https://www.facebook.com/100009023031039/videos/2197888173855262/

SUPPORTING NEW WRITERS: Strahan Coleman

Vaughan Park has always encouraged writers, new and established. Strahan Coleman, one of our 2018 Scholars, is a folk-psalmist, NZ award-winning artist, writer, prayer curator and founder of Commoners Communion - a blog, podcast and conversational community exploring beauty, mystery, and revelation.

We were thrilled to host the launch of Strahan’s first book, 'PRAYER VOL. 01’ on 6th June. We’ve posted some pictures of this lovely event on our Facebook page.

A review will appear in the next issue of Vaughan Park’s magazine, Ruatara, but in the meantime, if you’d like to buy a copy, go to https://strahanmusic.bandcamp.com/merch/prayer-vol-01-book.
