Chairman and General Trust Board representative

Angus has chaired the Board since September 2015. He is a member of the General Trust Board of the Diocese of Auckland, the trust which owns the land and buildings at Vaughan Park. Angus is also a trustee and treasurer of the Hornsby Pacific Education Trust, a trust dedicated to raising funds for St Andrew’s College in Tonga. He serves as a divisional councillor of CPA Australia. He is a member of several advisory boards for private companies and has been a practising accountant since 2012. Angus is a reader at Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell.

Nichola Christie LLB

General Trust Board representative

Nichola holds a LLB degree and has recently retired from legal practice. Over her professional career, she practised primarily in the area of property law, trust and estate law and the resolution of relationship property disputes. Nichola holds several voluntary service roles, mostly associated with the Anglican church. These include being Deputy Chair of the Anglican Trust for Women and Children, being a member of the General Trust Board, a member of the Clergy Retirement and Remuneration Committee and a former Bishop’s Ministry Adviser. Nichola is a long-time parishioner at the Parish of St Mark Remuera and is a former People’s Warden and Synod representative. 

Megan Bowden QSO

Diocesan Council representative

Megan has spent 50 years in primary school education as a teacher, and principal, and leading professional development for first-time principals and aspiring principals.  In 2012 she was awarded the Queen’s Service Medal for services to primary education.  Since retiring from full-time work in 2011 she has served on Establishment Boards of Trustees for 3 brand new schools in Auckland.  She is a parishioner of St Pauls Anglican Church, Milford where she is Vicar’s Warden, and has been a member of the Diocesan Council for 8 years.  She is a trained Companion for “Seasons for Growth” programmes providing support for children, teenagers and adults dealing with significant loss and change in their lives, and represents the North Shore and Hibiscus Coast on the diocesan committee that oversees “Seasons for Growth” across the Auckland region.

Rev. Moana Knight

Komiti Tumuaki representative

Moana serves as Pirihi Tautoko of Te Karaiti te Pou Herenga Waka, the Māori Anglican Church in Mangere.  Her role within Te Pihopatanga o Te Tai Tokerau is visiting kaumatua and kuia. She covers a wide geographical area in Northland, including Dargaville & Whangarei, as well as greater Auckland.  She has been on the Vaughan Park Governance Board since 2016 representing Komiti Tumuaki.

Miles Brown LLB

Bishop Co-Opted Member (The Right Reverend Ross Bay)

Miles is a lawyer of over 45 years of experience, including 2 years legal experience in London. He has been a partner in a small Newmarket law firm for 35 years, undertaking mainly business and property legal work. He has been a subcommittee member with Auckland District Law Society for many years and currently is a Trustee of the Remuera Christians Trust Board and also the Age Concern Auckland Trust Board. He has previously held office as Vicar’s Warden and Synod Representative for St Aidans Anglican Church, Remuera.

Elizabeth Witton

Diocesan Council representative

Elizabeth has worked in several sectors during her working life, including, health, administration, and management. For 17 years until 2019 she was the joint owner of a national magazine, and in 2014 also became the editor of The Auckland Diocese magazine ‘The Anglican’. She now also assists small organisations with their website and communications. Outside of work, as well as her involvement in her parish of St Peter’s, Takapuna, Elizabeth has been on the Diocesan Council for two years, is the Chairperson of a large Body Corporate in Auckland, and on the board of the NZ Golf Industry Council.
